Meet Jay Blake. At age 31, an accident left him without sight, smell or taste. With persistent and aggressive rehabilitation, he learned how to live as a blind person. During this time, he found that he was able to do what he loved most – work on race car engines.
The renewed self determination he found during his rehabilitation led him to follow his lifelong dream of owning a professional auto racing team. He also took the lessons he learned during his recovery to motivate others. Through his Follow a Dream organization, he shares his “Five Tools for Your Life’s tool Box” message with thousands around the country.
The message focuses on important life values and skills, such as a positive attitude, and the importance of education, passion, self-determination and teamwork. During his presentations, Jay demonstrates how grateful he is for what he has and appreciative for how lucky he is to do what he loves. Attendees are then encouraged and motivated to follow their own life goals.
