Gene J. Simpson Named President of Republic Indemnity®

CINCINNATI – January 9, 2024 – Great American Insurance Group is pleased to announce the hiring of Gene J. Simpson as President of its California-based workers’ compensation subsidiary, Republic Indemnity, effective immediately.

Mr. Simpson joins the company from a workers’ compensation insurance carrier in California, where he served as Vice President, Underwriting and Distribution. Prior to this leadership role, he was the Vice President, Workers’ Compensation Product Management at the parent company of a Seattle-based workers’ compensation insurer. Mr. Simpson has more than 26 years of insurance experience.

“Gene comes to us with a strong underwriting background and a vast network of solid agency relationships that will undoubtedly benefit Republic,” said Jason Cohen, Senior Vice President of Great American’s Property & Casualty Group. “We welcome his expertise and experience, and look forward to continuing to grow Republic, which has a strong history of serving the workers’ comp market.”

Mr. Simpson earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Western Washington University and holds the following designations: Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC), Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
