Loving “IT”: See How Amy Bergman Landed an Insurance Career

For Amy Bergman of our Property & Casualty IT Services team, it was “a fair to remember” seven years ago that started her career in the insurance industry. See how Amy landed her first professional job why she’s loving “IT.”
Describe your background and your career path in insurance.
I attended Ohio University, where I began pursuing an accounting degree. After three years, I realized that I didn’t enjoy accounting enough to make it a career and ultimately decided to double major in Marketing and Management Information Systems. After graduation, I moved back to my hometown of Cincinnati in search of a job. Unsure of my technical knowledge to land a job in IT, I took the chance and attended a career fair hosted by Great American IT Services. I met several IT leaders, who were all so encouraging about me pursuing a career in IT. A couple weeks later, I started with the company.
What is your current role and responsibilities in P&C IT?
I am a Business Analyst and Scrum Master for the development team working on our core Agent Portal and Insured Portal applications. My responsibilities include prioritizing requested system enhancements with stakeholders, coordinating releases of new functionality, and mitigating risks and blockers that threaten delivery. I also collaborate with business partners to provide continuous improvements and set up departments to use the Agent Portal.
