Environmental Team Welcomes Lindsay Jones
In an effort to ensure we are the insurance company of choice for environmental insurance brokers, it is important we establish a strong and dynamic team. Each issue of Environmental Insider will introduce you to members of our team and describe the unique role they play to support you and your clients.
Great American Insurance Group’s Environmental Division is proud to welcome Lindsay Jones to its National Underwriting department as an underwriting specialist. In her new role, Lindsay will specialize in underwriting premises liability policies, offering comprehensive environmental coverage for the risks associated with facilities and sites of the insured. Lindsay’s background gives her expertise in a variety of environmental risk factors and will contribute greatly to the Division’s development of specialized environmental policies.
Lindsay attended Millersville University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in environmental biology. She then went on to receive her Master of Science in biology with a specialization in ecology from Villanova University, focusing on the study of birds and their behavior. During her time at Villanova, Lindsay was an adjunct professor and research fellow, leading laboratory courses and field instruction for introductory level ecology and biology courses. Her research explored vocal behaviors, reproduction and genetics of avian species in the southeastern Pennsylvania region, providing Lindsay with specialized technical knowledge and opportunities to apply her findings while teaching.
Post-graduation, Lindsay worked as a project manager for an environmental testing laboratory, where she was responsible for handling field service requests and ensuring client compliance with various local and state monitoring regulations related to sample collection, analysis, and proper testing protocols.
After her experiences at the lab, Lindsay transitioned into an environmental scientist role with a small environmental consulting firm. Her responsibilities included the performance and oversight of remedial field investigations and development of technical support documents for environmental insurance claims related to residential oil releases. Acting as a mediator between clients, regulators and homeowners, Lindsay worked closely with all parties to develop thorough solutions. In this position, Lindsay’s work also involved the completion of Phase I and II environmental site assessments, compliance reporting for contractor clients and the preparation of spill prevention plans.
Before joining the Great American team, Lindsay worked for a large environmental consulting and infrastructure firm as a project specialist, taking on broad advising projects related to due diligence and remedial investigations. Her work provided insight into the environmental risks of premises-related projects to accommodate the needs of clients—including budgetary restrictions and timing constraints. Lindsay’s vast technical knowledge ensured proper supervision and performance of Phase I and II environmental site assessments, limited compliance assessments, remedial investigations and PFAS source evaluations across a variety of client sites.
“My interest in the outdoors drew me to the environmental field,” Lindsay stated. “Now, after 17 years in the consulting field, I am ready to apply my technical background to the insurance industry!”
Lindsay, along with the team of experts at Great American Environmental, can assist in uncovering the hidden risks in your clients’ operations and develop a custom program to help protect them. The Division offers a complete portfolio of environmental insurance products, including contractor’s and fixed premises pollution liability insurance that work across the U.S., U.S. territories, Canada and other select countries.
