Environmental Team Welcomes Bobby Watters
In an effort to ensure we are the insurance company of choice for environmental insurance brokers, it is important we establish a strong and dynamic team. Each issue of Environmental Insider will introduce you to members of our team and describe the unique role they play to support you and your clients.
Great American Insurance Group’s Environmental Division welcomes Bobby Watters to its National Underwriting department as an associate underwriter. In his role, Bobby will work with underwriters to review submissions, complete policy bindings, and evaluate potential changes to policies, fostering broker relationship development and increasing awareness of the Division’s product offerings.
Bobby received his Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University, double majoring in economics and political science with a minor in philosophy. While studying at Bucknell University, Bobby was involved in Sigma Chi Fraternity, serving as a member of the executive board for three consecutive years. In addition, he worked as an intern for Philadelphia City Council, conducting research and assisting with correspondence for current legislative issues. Bobby also participated in a study abroad program in Barbados during ones of his summer semesters. This program centered around the political economy of the Caribbean and offered Bobby the opportunity to apply his areas of study to a hands-on learning experience.
After graduation, Bobby worked as an operations analyst II with an investment bank, maintaining portfolios and client relationships through exhaustive monitoring of account statuses. This position also required Bobby to ensure the compliance of all distributions with federal and state tax regulations-- a skill that will translate to Bobby’s work with insurance regulations as an associate underwriter. Prior to joining Great American, Bobby worked for a financial services company as a certified debt specialist, analyzing customer needs and determining the best plan to alleviate their financial struggles. These external-facing interactions provided Bobby with an understanding of the importance of communication and serving customer needs. Such experiences will be relevant in developing strong broker connections alongside underwriters.
“I’ve always had an interest in the outdoors – hiking, kayaking, and spending time in nature,” Bobby mentioned. “This role felt like a great fit because it combined my interests outside of the workplace and classroom with previous professional experiences.”
Bobby, along with the team of experts at Great American Environmental, can assist in uncovering the hidden risks in your clients’ operations and develop a custom program to help protect them. The Division offers a complete portfolio of environmental insurance products, including contractor’s and fixed premises pollution liability insurance that work across the U.S., U.S. territories, Canada and other select countries.
