A Note from Leadership – Eric McCabe, National Underwriting, Divisional Senior Vice President
National Underwriting Update
Since having to pivot away from in-person broker meetings and events, the underwriters of Great American’s Environmental Division have kept busy with a variety of new business opportunities, virtual engagement activities and team-bonding events over the past year and a half.
The realities of the past almost two years have provided us with the opportunity to innovate in how we engage with our brokers, consultants and fellow Great American divisions. While our virtual presence will continue to be a key component of our communications strategy, we recognize that face-to-face gatherings are fundamental to the maintenance of our current broker relationships and development of new broker connections. We’re delighted to be able to start planning face-to-face gatherings as CDC guidelines and local COVID-19 restrictions allow.
The Division’s anticipation for the return of in-person events was unmistakable as our team embarked on our annual fishing charter after a year and a half hiatus. Despite some choppy waters, this year's event in Port Jefferson, NY had a great turnout, with pleasant weather and a healthy mix of catching up and catching critters. The fish weren't the only ones biting, though, as breakfast and lunch were provided for all. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our valued brokers and agents. We look forward to continuing the tradition next year.
After last year’s outing called for a mulligan, our team was also ecstatic to get back on the green with our brokers. Great American’s Property & Inland Marine Division hosted its annual Great American cross-marketing event at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield, CT. Overall, it was a swinging success, as our foursome team placed second in the tournament! I would like to extend a big thank you to all who participated. We look forward to teeing off again next year!
